Freemasons are very active in Gibraltar’s community, supporting many local charities, causes and community infrastructures. This includes work in hospitals, schools, public charity events, and everything in between.
Freemasons are also often one of the first on the scene to give charitably to major or catastrophic events – going by the motto: when you give quickly, you give twice. In 2020, Gibraltar Freemasons gave £26,400 to ‘The Covid Fund’ within a week of its inception to support the Gibraltar community in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, whilst almost £7,000 was donated to the Straits of Gibraltar Association Trust in response to the devastating 2023 Moroccan Earthquake.
See below for more about Freemasons’ work in the community.
TLC Gibraltar (Charity No. 183) provides cuddly teddy bears for medical staff to give to young children in hospital and other medical departments. If your child was unfortunate enough to visit hospital in the last 17 years, they would almost certainly have received a teddy from TLC Gibraltar. Over 16,000 teddies have been donated since the charity was founded in 2006, and still counting!
